The 2011 Kelsey Theatre Awards Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 4/4/2011

WEST WINDSOR, NJ – April 4, 2011: K2KEntertainment and The Kelsey Theatre are pleased to announce the first annual Kelsey Theatre Awards, to be held on August 13, 2011 at 7:00PM; the awards show will be held inside Kelsey Theatre on campus at Mercer County Community College, 1200 Old Trenton Road, West Windsor, NJ.

K2KEntertainmen plans an evening quite unlike a traditional award show. Awards will be presented celebrating the performances at Kelsey Theatre during the 2010-2011 season; traditional categories such as Outstanding Production of a Musical, Outstanding Choreography, and Outstanding Director will be included, along with a few new original categories – among them Best Villain, Best Onstage Couple, and The LMFAO Award for Funniest Production. The ceremony is produced and will be hosted by actor and comedian Kyrus, a local resident, who notes that “none of us can afford a ticket to the Tony Awards; we may as well create our own award show instead.”

The preliminary round of nominations will begin on June 27.  Audiences can help decide the nominees and winners by visiting www.TheKelseys.info and voting for their favorites.  The top choices from each category after the preliminary round of voting will be the official nominees for the awards. The official, final voting period will be from July 4 until July 9.

The winner in each category will be announced live at the award show, which will also include live performances by the four nominees for Outstanding Production of a Musical and a number of other surprises for the audience.  All acceptance speeches will have a ten-word limit! It is guaranteed to be a great night of laughter, honors, and memories.

The show will also need a total of thirty presenters.  Anyone is welcome to apply to be a presenter, again by visiting www.TheKelseys.info.

Tickets will go on sale on Friday, April 8, and can be purchased at www.TheKelseys.infowww.kelseyatmccc.org, or through the box office at The Kelsey Theatre ((609) 570-3333). Tickets are $10 for general admission, and $5 for all MCCC students and staff. For all the latest information, visit Kyrus’ official website at www.kyrusonline.com today.
